I think I have told this story 2o times plus this last week, but here it is ONE more time!
Teeball in Odessa is not what I had expected. In Odessa it's competitive and aggressive. The cost just to get started was close to $200 after fees and equipment were bought. Our pants cost us $25 dollars (each)...you know why? Our team name is Rangers...yep, the Rangers, which means we have the logo and colors of the Rangers team...our team leased the rights! Moms of blog world...these are 4 year old boys!
Our first practice did not consist of being introduced to "this is a bat, glove, ball, 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base..." It consisted of drills, batting practice, etc...These boys of Odessa know how to throw a ball from base to base as if they have been doing it ALL of their life! They already know where the bases are and how to catch with their glove...
but as two friends pointed out this last week, "in a couple of years it all levels out." You see, Brayden's mom (me) is highly competitive and I love teeball, but I had no idea what I was walking into a week ago. Brayden learned in his first practice that in baseball you run to 1st base FIRST then 2nd base...he also finds it exciting to wave at me when he runs the bases...he also thinks it is CUTE to "whistle" while running base to base...he thinks it is cool to slide into home...and he thinks he needs a break every 15 minutes:-)
The season has just begun and I am so proud of him for stepping up to the plate...allowing him a chance to face a challenge each week...Tee Ball in Odessa, TX!
