We Are Staying In The Game

How many times can you spin with your baseball glove on your head in the outfield? How much sand can your baseball glove hold? Are the bugs much more exciting than the game itself? These are the questions I am pondering as my teeball player tried to throw in the towel at last Saturday's game (game#2).

Coach Wells, Coach Britton, and I watched Brayden as he ran from left field to right field to make the announcement he was done with baseball. Coach Wells walks Brayden over to the fence where I was awaiting to hear the news and he proceeds to tell me...me that Brayden was done with baseball. I dropped down to his level and through the fence Brayden and I locked eyes...I told him to put his hat back on and sit in the dugout. Normally there would be some sort of drama about how life is unfair, etc...but none came out of my teeball player. I waited a few minutes and walked in the dugout where he was sitting and sat next to him. He looked up at me and said, "I am ready to go home." I told him, "sorry, but every practice, scrimage, and game you will attend this season..." then I walked out of the dugout and cheered for the remainder of the game.

Yesterday was practice and he ran onto the field ready to play ball!
